Fondant
Many people ask me about fondant. It is an amazing product and I love working with it because not only does it help to keep the moisture in your cake, but it provides your cake with a smooth and satiny appearance. It is also very versatile and can be molded or sculpted to make a wide variety of decorations. Fondant covered cakes are first covered in a layer of buttercream and then covered in a layer of fondant so your cake actually has two different types of icings. Fondant does seem to have a bad reputation due to the taste of store bought brands. I do not use store bought fondants at all. I use only my homemade marshmallow fondant. |
